Our Experience

John Wallace is a fundraising and capacity building consultant with more than 20 years experience in securing funding from a range of sources and working for and with the charitable sector to grow and develop their businesses. From 2015-17 he held the post of Head of Capacity Building at Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) where he led a team dedicated to supporting and growing charities through training, planning, fundraising and systems development. Previous posts include being a director at the street children's NGO, Retrak, and had of fundraising at the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) and the Big Issue in the North Trust.

 

He has worked for eight years as a senior consultant (previously under Sustainable Funding Solutions). Clients cover a wide spectrum of the charity and not-for-profit sector both here in the UK and in the developing world. Thematic specialism’s of clients include; education, training and employment; water and sanitation; social work; child rights/ abuse; drug misuse; and heritage.

 

He has an excellent fundraising track record which stretches back over 20 years. He helped the Big Issue in the North Trust to double the organisation’s income over a three year period and at MAG he achieved a 95% success rate in winning competitive EuropeAid contracts, trebled the organisation’s income from public fundraising, secured several competitive multi-million USD$ UN tenders and in six years the organisation grew its income from £9.5M to £23.5M. As a consultant he has helped clients raise in excess of £4M for their work from a variety of funders including statutory sources, charitable foundations, corporate donors and the public. As a consultant he has provided a wide range of advice and support to voluntary sector clients around business development (e.g. growth and sustainability), governance (e.g. board recruitment and objects) and legal frameworks (e.g. compliance and legal status).
